In 2015, I founded Capital Brandworks LLC to cater toward brands and businesses in the market for custom apparel and promotional products, and partnered with a local screen print shop to handle production of those sales. Things went well enough that we decided to purchase the print shop to bring production in-house, and in 2018, we merged the two businesses.
The inaugural PRINTING United in Dallas was a show of unity, vitality and innovation. As digital printing technologies erase the distinct boundaries that once separated commercial, screen and photo printing, 2019 was the perfect time for SGIA and NAPCO Media to introduce a unified trade show for the entire printing industry.
June 24 - 28 marked the 55th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) — a national championship for career and technical trade students — in Louisville, Ky. With the long history of traditional printing, when to tell that the ink is dry comes almost naturally. Working with UV-curable inks moves the printer into a different world. The starting raw materials for the UV binder make up the UV-curable ink formulation. I like to think of it as having a miniature chemical factory taking place on the sheet or web after the printed wet ink is exposed to UV light.
